Chapter 2. Configuration: System
Set up basic system operations
1. Service Mode : Choose whether to enable `Service Mode`. In `Service Mode`, only server and recording functionalities are provided. A separate viewer is used for live monitoring and playback.
a. Launch viewer on startup: Choose whether to automatically start the viewer for live monitoring and playback.
b. Live I-Frame–only decoding: Choose whether to decode I-Frames only during live monitoring.
2. Startup
a. Connect on startup: Choose whether IP devices are automatically connected at startup.
b. Connection Interval: Set the interval between IP device connections in milliseconds. If set to zero (0), all IP devices will connect simultaneously.
3. System Restart
a. Select the weekdays and time to restart Windows or only the VMS.
b. Restart on connection failure: If all device connections fail, VMS will restart after this number of seconds. If set to zero (0), VMS will not restart due to connection failure.
4. Watchdog
a. Choose whether to enable the watchdog to start automatically at system boot. This is configured through the Windows Task Scheduler. Confirm the setup by running `taskschd.msc` and locating 'VMS' in the library. Additionally, verify that the watchdog is active by clicking the watchdog icon in the system tray.
b. Choose whether the watchdog should monitor the VMS. Enabling this option allows the watchdog to start the VMS automatically if needed.
c. Set the password to exit or stop the watchdog. (The default password is ‘admin’.)
5. HDD S.M.A.R.T : Choose whether to check HDD S.M.A.R.T. every 5 minutes.
6. Etc.
a. Frame Discard Interval: Maximum interval in seconds to discard frames since the last frame timestamp.
b. Enable Auto Stream Selection : Choose whether to enable `Auto Stream Selection`, which selects the most appropriate primary or sub-stream based on the video size.
· This feature is particularly effective for UHD cameras (e.g., 4K), which require significant decoding resources. For multi-channel display, a lower-resolution sub-stream is used to reduce system load. The UHD primary stream is used only for single-channel display.
· Auto Stream Selection is available only when the preferred streams for single- and multi-channel display are properly configured on the VMS server.
7. License Activation
a. You can set a product ID up to 12 bytes. (The default ID is the MAC address of the first Ethernet interface.) All product IDs must be unique.
b. For QR code activation, enter the 16-digit purchase code provided by your supplier along with your email address to receive the certificate file.
c. Click the "Export System Info" button.
① Select 'Save File' to save the file, then manually send it to your supplier.
② If you choose "QR Code", scan the QR code with your smartphone's camera app. This will open a web browser to transmit the information. The certificate file will then be sent to the email address you provide.
d. After receiving the certificate file, import it by selecting the file with the '.cert' extension.
e. Without license certification, up to 4 channels are available for evaluation purposes.
