Chapter 3. VMS Server

Launch the VMS Server

1. Double-click the “watchdog” icon on the desktop. The watchdog program will then launch the “VMS” server.

a. The VMS server periodically sends an alive signal to the watchdog. If the watchdog does not receive any signal for ten seconds, it will restart the VMS server.

b. The watchdog is hidden in the system tray. You can show the watchdog by clicking the tray icon and choosing “Show” from the menu.

c. To terminate the watchdog, click the tray icon and choose “Exit” from the menu. The password to stop or terminate the watchdog is defined in the “watchdog.ini” file. You can find the file in the Program Files folder. (The default password is “admin”.)

2. If you selected “Automatically start on startup” during the installation process, the “watchdog” will be launched at system startup.
